Bird strike: Iberia A343 at Montevideo on Aug 18th 2015

An Iberia Airbus A340-300, registration EC-GGS performing flight IB-6012 from Montevideo (Uruguay) to Madrid,SP (Spain) with 240 people on board, departed Montevideo’s runway 24 but flew through a flock of birds during departure. The crew, in the absence of abnormal indications, continued the climb and levelled off at FL290. About 50 minutes into the flight the crew, following an abnormal engine (CFM56) indication, decided to divert to Buenos Aires,BA (Argentina) for a safe landing on runway 11 about 3:10 hours after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Buenos Aires about 18 hours after landing.
